The best way to appreciate a new place is to meet the locals. So I set off today for a few home invasions.
Relying on charm; a lot of waving, and a big camera, I managed to get invited into several properties. I was keen to take a closer look at the ornate decorations visible from the street. I discovered every traditional Balinese home has a shrine area, called a sanggah. They vary in size, but some of the larger ones seem even more imposing than the family home.
A big thank you to the locals who kindly offered me some revealing views behind closed doors.
