The first day of the reunion has begun with a morning mass on the campus of De La Salle University’s College of Medicine. This rapidly expanding medical training facility and private hospital is located in bustling Dasmariñas City, about 60 kilometres from Manila.
The morning started with registration, and a meet and greet outside the University chapel. There was plenty of excited chatter. For many, this was the first time they’ve seen old classmates in 25 years. In keeping with the 80’s theme, all classmates were issued with slightly shocking lime and yellow polo shirts. They were bright, but no one got lost.
One nice touch was the attendance of the current College of Medicine choir – tomorrow’s doctors performing for their senior colleagues.
With outside temperatures well into the 30’s, the church fans were working hard. After the service, the classmates assembled for the first of many group photos before heading off on a tour of the greatly expanded and now highly modernised Med School.
